If by some miracle of internet magic you’ve landed on my site, I’m so pleased you’re here! I’d like to take some time to introduce myself a bit, and hopefully, see you visiting my blog and social media! I’m Amy Long, and I’m writing my first series of books. The genre is literary or speculative fiction, and the first book is titled Grasslands. This series has become very near and dear to my heart, and I’m thrilled to be ever closer to releasing it into the world.
I have a dream of being traditionally published, and that will be my first goal. However, I know full well how difficult it can be to break into the literary world, and I’m prepared to self-publish if needed.
A little about me! I was born in 1984, grew up in the amazing ’90s, and I’m the youngest of FIVE kids. By a lot, in fact, my closest in age sibling is 7 years older than I am. I was married in October of 2013 to an amazing man, who has given me two wildling boys. I do enjoy currently being a stay-at-home mom.
Books have been my heart and soul for most of my life. My dad recognized a talent in me and taught me to read when I was 3 years old. I started writing my own poetry and stories by the time I was 5. Only recently have I discovered the right story, and the courage, to share my work with the world. I’m a “book dragon” and devour the written word, without much prejudice to the genre. I’ve always enjoyed urban fantasy, and really thought that’s what I’d write, but was never struck with a new and enjoyable story to tell.
If you chose to follow my blog, you’ll discover I’m bipolar, and not the least bit ashamed of my disorder. It’s part of what makes me unique, and I fight the good fight against it. I’m an advocate for normalizing and understanding mental illness, and I won’t shy away from hard topics, such as forcing myself to write through crushing depression. Even how severe anxiety impacts the characters I write and my day-to-day life.
Now you know me a little. I hope I get to know you, too! Thanks for stopping by!
